  44. sega-genocide said: It’s unlikely that the design of the castle on the cover of SM64 is an unused design from the game itself (unless it was culled from concept art) because the model of the castle was relatively unchanged throughout SM64’s development. The earliest known images of SM64 from the 1995 patent show the castle with a few different textures but looking very much the same in terms of model geometry.
