In Super Mario Bros., beating World 8-4 unlocks a harder mode where, among other changes, Goombas are replaced with Buzzy Beetles. In that mode, there are many opportunities to jump onto a Buzzy Beetle when it is above a bottomless pit, as shown in the footage. Instead of falling, the Buzzy Beetle’s shell will be suspended in midair. If it is allowed to re-emerge, the Buzzy Beetle will continue walking on air and through walls.
