Unused “Self-Replenishing Item Box” switch e-Card effect in Super Mario Advance 4. Scanning this unreleased e-Card would make a Super Mario World-style item box appear on the top of the screen. Whenever Mario and Luigi lose a power-up, the item box dispenses the power-up it currently displays and is automatically refilled with another power-up chosen at random; the power-ups include even the rare Frog Suit, Tanooki Suit and Hammer Suit.

The European version of Super Paper Mario contains a glitch where if the player enters all unlocked rooms in Chapter 2-2 and returns to Mimi without getting the key to progress to the final, locked room, the game will freeze upon talking to Mimi (note the movement of the flying Pixls), and the console needs to be restarted. Nintendo recalled many copies of the game upon discovering the glitch after release to replace them with an updated version, so this glitch can mostly be found in Super Paper Mario discs purchased in 2007.

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, there is a tall hotel building in Poshley Heights where Mario is able to book a room. To visit the room, Mario must ride an elevator. Zooming out the camera to see the entirety of the hotel at once, we can see that the room is floating high above the actual building, to account for the length of the elevator ride.

In Super Mario Odyssey, if Mario is wearing the Bridal Gown, he will be wearing earrings if matching it with the Black Fedora (top) and no earrings if matching it with the Musician Hat (bottom), despite the hats being extremely similar. The reason is that the Black Fedora has a blue band, while the Musician Hat has a grey band; Mario wears blue earrings to match with the blue band in the first case, and no earrings in the second, as their color would not match.

In Super Mario Odyssey, the Odyssey displays irregular rendering behavior in Bowser’s Kingdom. Instead of being rendered while slightly outside the camera’s range, the Odyssey instead pops in when the camera is already in a position where it should be present (watch the top of the screen). While this type of behavior is common for older 3D games such as Super Mario 64, Super Mario Odyssey does not usually experience such errors.
