Before the final battle with Bowser in Super Mario Galaxy, Bowser Jr. taunts Mario and flies off on an airship with Princess Peach. The airship then hovers in the background behind Bowser while Mario climbs up the final staircase. Due to the considerable distance from the camera to the airship, low-polygon models for the characters on it are used. Zooming in on Peach reveals that her low-polygon model in this scene is completely motionless and has no eyes.

Extremely rare Burger King “Golden Yoshi” toy. In 2001, a Burger King/Nintendo cross-promotion campaign featured a special “Search for the Golden Toy” sweepstakes. Every Golden Yoshi that has been produced made its owner eligible for a free copy of Super Mario Advance. Most of the Golden Yoshis have been retained and eventually destroyed by Burger King. As you can see by the paint on top of Yoshi’s eyelids, the Golden Yoshi is merely a normal green Yoshi with a coat of gold paint.

In Super Mario RPG, entering the “save game” dialogue and selecting a save other than the one most recently used results in the game verifying the decision with a prompt, “Not your last save. Save here anyway?” Answering “No” 20 times in a row and then finally answering “Yes” on the 21st time will result in Mario assuming a saddened pose, identical to his “Silence” status affliction sprite.

In a 2010 interview with Yoshiaki Koizumi, producer of Super Mario Galaxy 2, he was asked by Japanese magazine Famitsu about how Yoshi can survive in space in the game. His answer was “because he’s a space Yoshi”. This is confirmed in the game as there is a special version of the sign in front of Yoshi’s house in Sky Station Galaxy, which can only be accessed during that galaxy’s third mission. Unlike the regular version of the sign, which contains a message signed “Yoshi”, this one is signed “Yoshi the space dragon”.
