In the intro to Super Mario Galaxy, the camera is fixed during some segments. Due to this, the designers did not prioritize matching characters’ facial expressions with their dialogue, as the camera would normally not be close enough to see their faces clearly. This results in discrepancies like this Toad reacting to the destruction around him with “Oh, it’s all just too horrible for words!” while having a cheerful expression.

At the Nintendo Live 2018 Tokyo event, various actors in Mario character mascot costumes performed around the show floor. A recurring gag was Waluigi pretending to hit Yoshi with his racket when Yoshi was not looking, as shown in the footage.

Top: in the intro to Luigi’s Mansion 3, Luigi looks at his invitation to the Last Resort hotel. The text is presented as scribbles and is illegible.

Bottom: however, in the game’s Guide menu, a screenshot exists that is edited to replace the scribbles with actual text, revealing the message in the invitation. This is done so each localization could create a version of the message in its own language without having to re-render the intro cinematic with the different text in motion.

In the Forever Forest in Paper Mario, a beehive can be seen in a tree in an area that is not part of the main path toward Boo’s Mansion. If the path is taken (starting from Toad Town) straight, left, left, right, right, this area can be reached.

If the tree with the beehive is struck with a hammer, a Bzzap enemy will emerge. This provides a hidden preview of an enemy from much later in the game, as these are not usually encountered until Chapter 6, while Forever Forest is part of Chapter 3.
