By flying and then performing a Ground Pound above one of the pillars in Shifting Sand Land in Super Mario 64, Mario will get stuck inside the stone as though it was sand. (Footage of the Virtual Console version recorded by me in a Wii emulator.)
An episode of the British television show Bad Influence contained extremely early beta footage of Super Mario 64. What makes their recording different from most available beta footage is that they were able to also record the sound. Here are two snippets of the show where the host talks over the game, but if you listen closely, you will be able to hear Mario’s beta voice, recorded before Charles Martinet joined the project. In Donkey Kong Country 2, a glitch can recolor Diddy’s boombox and Dixie’s guitar to a golden color scheme. In Hot-Head Hop, if Squitter is left behind just before the “No Squitter” sign, the items Diddy and Dixie will produce at the goal will be colored gold. (Footage recorded by me in a SNES emulator.)
