In Super Mario RPG, getting a Game Over results in the music of the current battle slowing down before restarting the game. This is the Game Over version of Smithy’s first battle theme.
In some levels of Super Mario Galaxy, Captain Toad’s headlamp and backpack are always rendered no matter where the camera is pointing, even if Captain Toad himself or the planet he is standing on have unloaded from memory.

Bottom: The same area in Super Mario 64 DS. Rocky terrain not present in the original was added outside the boundaries, even though it is not normally visible in-game. Curiously, this geometry is also not visible on the minimap on the bottom screen.
In Super Paper Mario, the top of Flipside Tower and the second floor of Flipside are actually part of the same room, even though the game doesn’t normally let you transition between them without a black loading screen. However, by using glitches to jump in midair indefinitely, it’s possible to reach the top of the tower without using the elevator.
