In Super Mario 64, if Wing Mario’s Wing Cap power runs out in the Tower of the Wing Cap course in such a way that he loses all health upon falling, but then falls off the edge of the tower (top), then he will land in the castle lobby as though he had exited the level normally. However, his health will still be empty, causing him to enter his death animation immediately after falling (bottom).

Unused “Desert Cave” background found in the data of New Super Mario Bros. U. This was likely dropped due to using a much darker and more realistic texture than the game’s other backgrounds and being deemed unfitting of the art style.

Top: the Tree Top Town level in Donkey Kong Country is set in a village of houses built into tall trees. The music that plays in this level is called “Treetop Rock” in the English version of the official soundtrack.

Middle: however, in the Japanese version, the music is called “The Ewok Level” instead (number 23).

Bottom: this is a reference to the 1983 film Star Wars: Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, where a location called the forest moon of Endor was featured that the Tree Top Town level greatly resembles. It was populated by the Ewok species, hence the name of the track.

The “Truck GO!” music track in Super Paper Mario can not be heard in-game in full under normal circumstances. The music plays when a minecart is used in Chapter 5-3; however, the minecart sections are too quick to hear a full loop of the song. At 38 seconds, a section of the song starts that cannot be heard in this manner. The only way to hear the full track is to pay 10 coins to the InterNed in the bar in Flipside and have him randomly play this track out of his entire 89-track playlist.

Concept art for unused outfit designs for Super Mario Odyssey, seen in the 2018 Nintendo employee handbook. While some of these, like the knight, caveman, clown etc. were used in the finished game after being redesigned, some others, like the Yoshi and Donkey Kong costumes, were left out completely. Interestingly, these drawings do not appear in the Art of Super Mario Odyssey book despite it featuring hundreds of other outfit sketches, being exclusive to the employee handbook.

In Yoshi’s Island, under very specific circumstances, a Piranha Plant that has captured Yoshi can begin to slide across the ground. In Level 2-2, a Little Mouser carrying an egg falls down a narrow hole. That particular egg is glitched; if Yoshi is able to grab it from the Little Mouser at the same time it falls down (seen at the beginning of the footage), the egg can result in unintended behavior when thrown. If that egg is then used to hit a Piranha Plant on the same frame as Yoshi is swallowed by it, the sliding animation occurs.
