Top: In Super Mario Odyssey, the Moon Kingdom and the Mushroom Kingdom contain small UFOs that fly away when Mario approaches, similar to the game’s many bird species. Here is a close-up of one of the UFOs.

Bottom: They are actually small versions of the Torkdrift boss from the Wooded Kingdom, having the same basic construction, but only one eyestalk instead of two. Just like Torkdrift steals flowers, the UFOs each have one small flower inside them.

In Super Mario Bros. 3, it is possible to skip fighting Hammer Bros. on the world map under certain circumstances. If the Hammer Bro is on a node on the map that would cause the map to scroll, the scrolling overrides the battle activation and Mario is able to pass through the Hammer Bro without fighting, as in the footage.

Top: in Super Mario 64 DS, it is possible to get on top of the large brick structure containing the goal portion of the Princess’s Secret Slide area. As Luigi, simply stop the slide in the flat portion after the first tunnel by performing a Ground Pound, and then backwards somersault so that Luigi starts spinning. While spinning, fly to the grey brick roof.

Bottom: this roof is unique due to its surface property whereby all sliding actions continue indefinitely as long as a direction is held. Here, Luigi performs a Slide Kick and is able co continue sliding in a circle forever.

Note that this property is also present in the original Nintendo 64 version of the game, but getting on top of the roof there is possible using only extremely precise jumps not easily performed by the average player.

In the second issue of Nintendo Power, a fold-out calendar marks October 11th as Mario’s birthday. As there has never been an official statement on Mario’s birthday from Nintendo of Japan, and Nintendo Power was published by Nintendo of America, this is the closest to an official date for Mario’s birthday that is currently known.

In Paper Mario, there is unused functionality to use some healing items on partners in the game’s data. Normally, since partners in this game do not have HP, they cannot be healed; however, this function would have allowed Mario to use a Mushroom on an incapacitated partner to restore them, as shown with Goombario in the footage. This function also includes a unique animation of Mario throwing the item at the partner.
