During the gameplay presentation for the upcoming Yoshi game for the Switch, a number of barcodes could be seen on background elements in the stages. Looking up the barcodes reveals that they are real barcodes for products that have seemingly no connection to Nintendo, such as a home fragrance by an unrelated company. This is almost certainly a coincidence, as the barcode seems to have been chosen by inputting mostly sequential digits, but it raises the question of why Nintendo would risk accidentally inserting the barcode of a product they would not wish to promote when they could instead choose to use barcodes of existing Nintendo products.
