In 1984, a licensed version of the Donkey Kong 3 arcade game was published by Hudson Soft for the Japanese PC-8801 home computer. This version featured different backgrounds, among them famous Earth landmarks and scenes of space. One background, used in Stage 18, is the explosion of a nuclear weapon, known as a “mushroom cloud”.
