A Super Mario variety blog.
Screenshots, photos, sprites, gifs, scans and more from all around the world of Super Mario Bros.

The famous “Hat in Hand” glitch from Super Mario 64. In Snowman’s Land, lose your hat to the giant snowman’s icy breath, then take a warp under a tree in the corner of the stage. When you retrieve your hat, it will glitch so Mario will carry it in his hand. This also makes Mario punch foes with his hat.
In Chocolate Island 4 in Super Mario World, jumping into this corner at the beginning of the level kills you.
In Donkey Kong on the NES, you can actually climb down the bottom right ladder in the manner depicted and loop to the top of the screen, bypassing most of the stage.
The infamous glitch from Super Mario 64 where you can walk through the castle roof and end up in an area on the other side of the door to the castle. Walking through the door makes you end up in a similar area, but inside the castle.
If you position Mario on a block above a bottomless pit underwater in Super Mario Bros., he will tremble as a result of the suction that would normally pull him down. (Footage recorded by me in a NES emulator.)

In Super Mario World, if you jump onto one of the moving platforms in Forest Secret Area and then quickly jump back onto solid ground, the background will be moving even though you are standing still. (Footage recorded by me in a SNES emulator.)
By jumping over the flagpole in Super Mario Bros., this landscape repeats infinitely and is impossible to exit unless the timer runs out. (Footage recorded by me in a NES emulator.)
In Super Mario World, taking Chocolate Island 3’s upper goal while simultaneously abandoning Yoshi will lead to the map screen glitching into these colors. (Footage recorded by me in a SNES emulator.)
Walking backwards past Bowser in Super Mario Bros. by pressing Left and Right on the D-Pad simultaneously. (Footage recorded by me in a NES emulator.)
