How to enter the Minus World in Super Mario Bros. (Source)
In Super Mario Bros., if you hold B and jump immediately after starting a level or exiting a pipe as Fire Mario, he will be sliding on one foot. (Footage recorded by me in a NES emulator.)
Long firebars in Super Mario Bros. have large gaps between their animation frames that allow Mario to stay there unharmed. (Footage recorded by me in a NES emulator.)
It is possible to perform the “duck on the white block” trick in Super Mario Bros. 3 on any white block. Doing so on the white block near the beginning of Level 1-1 will result in Mario standing on the green block beneath it, not interacting with the Koopa Troopa, and graphical oddities. (Footage recorded by me in a NES emulator.)
By touching Bowser as Small Mario in Super Mario Bros. at the same time as touching the goal axe, Mario will die, but the end of level scene with Toad will still play. (Footage recorded by me in a NES emulator.)
In Level 3-3 in Super Mario Bros., it is possible to jump over the flagpole at the end of the level in the manner depicted. However, proceeding too far past the flagpole will make it impossible to finish the level. (Footage recorded by me in a NES emulator.)
Mario walking backwards in Super Mario Bros. This is possible by pressing Left and Right on the D-Pad simultaneously, either by modifying the standard controller or using a third-party alternative. (Footage recorded by me in a NES emulator.)
