Top: in the bottom right corner of the room where Kruller, the boss of the third floor in Luigi’s Mansion 3, is fought, a parasol with a heart-shaped handle can be seen.

Bottom: this is actually Peach’s parasol, in particular the design of it that is used in the Super Smash Bros. series.

Top: the art director for Hotel Mario was Jeffrey Zoern, who worked at Philips Fantasy Factory in 1994.

Bottom: 25 years later, now working at Next Level Games, Jeffrey Zoern was the lead technical character artist for Luigi’s Mansion 3, which - like Hotel Mario - revolves around a hotel.

While this is most likely a coincidence, it is notable how the same person was in a high-ranking artist position on both of the Mario franchise games that are hotel-themed - although it cannot be entirely ruled out that he could have had an influence on the choice of theming for both games.

Top: in the intro to Luigi’s Mansion 3, Luigi looks at his invitation to the Last Resort hotel. The text is presented as scribbles and is illegible.

Bottom: however, in the game’s Guide menu, a screenshot exists that is edited to replace the scribbles with actual text, revealing the message in the invitation. This is done so each localization could create a version of the message in its own language without having to re-render the intro cinematic with the different text in motion.

A glitch in Luigi’s Mansion 3 can result in Luigi being permanently stuck in a loop of falling through the ground, appearing back in the room, and falling through the ground again on Floor 8 of the hotel if Luigi clips through an inactive TV by being pushed into it. It is possible for the game to autosave in this state, meaning that reloading will only cause Luigi to continue falling. Fortunately, the game also provides fixed saves at story-relevant points that can be used to escape the glitch.

In Luigi’s Mansion 3, during the opening segment of the game, the lobby of the hotel is filled with NPCs. Pushing pieces of luggage that are lying around the lobby into those NPCs results in them flying rapidly in random directions. Here, Luigi pushes a pink bag into Peach. The moment it touches Peach, it flies up the staircase on the right, and after several seconds, falls from the ceiling.

Near the beginning of Luigi’s Mansion 3, Luigi is chased down a corridor by King Boo in a scripted scene where Luigi is supposed to escape by going down a laundry chute. If the player does not activate the chute, King Boo will stop and laugh, seemingly no longer attacking Luigi to give him a chance to escape. However, if the player waits too long, King Boo will stop laughing and hit Luigi with his tongue, revealing that it is possible to lose the game even in this introductory segment.

In Luigi’s Mansion 3, Luigi and Gooigi have different behaviors for being hit with each other’s Suction Shot. If Luigi shoots it at Gooigi, it will fly through him with a goo splash effect (top). If Gooigi shoots it at Luigi, it will stick to his head for a few seconds before dissipating (bottom).
