Top: photo of a computer belonging to a print layout designer at Nintendo of Europe in 2005, from the German N-Zone magazine. The screen shows the designer working on the box for a German Gamecube Microphone + Mario Party 6 bundle. This is one of the very few existing behind-the-scenes looks into the process of the design of Mario game packaging.
Bottom: the finished box for the bundle. Note the subtle changes from the in-progress version such as a different age rating.

The data of Mario Party 6 contains a model test room consisting of three brown cars, three floating platforms and a semi-transparent wall of water in the middle of a grassy field (top). The Earth in visible in the skybox in the background. When the room is loaded, the dialogue “Gwahaha! This could actually get interesting…” appears and cannot be dismissed. Nothing in the room responds to the player’s input, with only the camera being controllable (bottom).

Example of efficient eyebrow culling in Mario Party 6. (Screenshots taken by me in a GC emulator.)
Top image: A screenshot of the game as it would normally be seen. Note the Goomba at the very top of the screen being partially visible.
Middle image: A more detailed look at the edge of the screen. The Goomba is fully loaded into memory, but its eyes are just off-screen.
Bottom image: The way the Goomba is rendered at that moment. Since its eyebrows are barely outside the screen’s range, the game does not render them for optimization purposes.
In the Mini-Game Tour mode in Mario Party 6, Twila appears to be driving a bus. Zooming in, however, we can see she is merely pretending to be driving, as her hands are only hovering around the steering wheel without touching it.
In the Endurance Alley mode of Mario Party 6, Twila will tell the player characters that they still have “a long way to go” after clearing the minigame at the 99 mark, before congratulating them on completing the mode a few seconds later.
Brighton and Twila’s expressions from the intro to Mario Party 6.
In the epilogue to Mario Party 6, every character has a shocked expression multiple times during the scene. Since Mario is facing away from the camera, his shocked face can’t be seen under normal circumstances. Here it is from multiple angles.
