In the Mario Party 8 minigame “Crank to Rank”, the camera briefly moves up when the minigame ends before moving back down to show the characters lining up for the results. During this, the characters teleport from their positions at the bottom of the flagpoles to their final positions; the camera is meant to hide this.

However, Waluigi is so tall that even with the camera pointing away, he is able to get into frame as he teleports, breaking the illusion. Watch the bottom right corner of the screen closely to see Waluigi pop in after the “FINISH” text disappears.

The data for Mario Party 8 contains unused early models for each character’s Bowser Candy transformation. The Bowser bodies used here look more like Bowser’s actual body and not like a toy version of it as seen in the finished game. Note Boo’s unique transformation that simply gives him Bowser’s shell and arms instead of the entire body.

When the press kit containing Mario Party 8 official art was released, it included two almost identical renders of Donkey Kong; one with a closed mouth and one with an open mouth. This is a rare example of official art being made from the same model being modified in such a limited way without any additional changes such as being part of a group image, a different camera angle, or different lighting. Here are the two renders displayed one after another as an animation.

Blooper’s walking animation from Mario Party 8, from several different angles. Blooper almost always moves around by floating, and is only seen walking in the “Treacherous Tightrope” minigame; however, he is always turned with his back to the camera during this. The game’s debug menu, accessible by modifying the code, allows us to see the animation from the front.

The textures used for the characters’ 8-bit transformations when under the influence of the Bitsize Candy in Mario Party 8. The decision to represent 8-bit sprites in 3D space and use textures in this manner typical of conventional 3D models, rather than simply apply a 2D image of the actual sprite to the front and back of the model, is highly unusual.

In the Mario Party 8 minigame Snow Way Out, a Koopa can be seen waving from inside the cottage (top picture, window in the bottom left). However, the Koopa would be too tall to be properly aligned within the window if he was standing on the ground, as the frame would cover his eyes. To fix this, the game sinks him a few inches under the floor.
