In all Mario Party games released prior to 2012, non-playable characters blink as part of their idle animations, while player characters don’t. In this example scene from Mario Party 4, note how only Goomba blinks. Mario Party 9 is the first entry in the series where player characters blink regularly.

In Mario Party 7, a dummied-out debug mode containing a movement test room can still be accessed by modifying addresses in the game’s memory. Within the test room, if Luigi is present, his model will deform when the room is exited. This happens only to Luigi and not to any of the other 11 characters.
Mario Party: Island Tour was released in Japan four months after its North American release. During this time, adjustments were made to the box art: some characters were slightly repositioned, and Rosalina was erased.
