In Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, whenever Toad wins a match while under the effect of a Mega Mushroom, the camera during his celebration may turn in such a way that one of the line judge Toads comes into view, completely obscuring Toad until the next screen transition.

In the official artwork for Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, the tennis balls do not appear in reflections, while all other objects do. Two pieces of artwork where this is most notable are an image of Toadette about to hit the ball with her racket and the Sprixie Princess holding a ball in her hand. Zooming in on Toadette’s eyes reveals that the racket is reflected, but the ball isn’t. Similarly, zooming in on the Sprixie Princess’s brooch shows that her hand is empty.
On October 23rd 2015, less than a month before the release of Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, Nintendo published a set of prerelease screenshots for the game. In one of these screenshots, a Toad in the background seems to be missing his eyes.
