Top right: the original painting of Napoleon Bonaparte on which the Mario drawing is based.
Bottom: original Nintendo headquarters plaque from 1889. The first deck of Hanafuda cards produced and trademarked by Nintendo was called the Napoleon deck (seen inside the left round seal), which the Mario picture is a reference to.

In Super Mario World, there is a glitch that can be seen simply by entering Vanilla Dome 1 and waiting. A Spike Top will approach Mario from the right. Dodging it and allowing it to touch the left side of the screen will result in it becoming stuck between the ground and the edge of the level in an endless loop.
