During the first mission of Sky Station Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy 2, there is a sign in front of Yoshi’s house asking you to go around back. The third mission of the galaxy is a repeat of the first with a strict time limit, making it unlikely for the player to re-read the sign. However, if you do, you’ll discover the signature has been amended to say “Yoshi the space dragon”.
In Super Mario Galaxy, touching the Dark Matter in Bowser’s Dark Matter Plant causes Mario to disintegrate. For this effect, the game obscures Mario’s model with particles. Moving the camera around the obstruction, we can see that to counteract the increased strain on the graphical processing caused by the particle effect, Mario’s model is simplified during the cutscene by having its hands and face removed.

The texture for the Smash Bills from Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. The bill design features a person in a Mario hat, the signature of series creator Masahiro Sakurai, and a photo of Nintendo of Japan’s new development building, opened in 2014.

In Super Mario Sunshine, the five Toads’ vests all match the color of the spots on their caps. However, during the Delfino Plaza flood event, Purple Toad’s vest is blue. This stems from the fact that all Toads are actually copies of Black Toad. Black Toad’s textures are colored dynamically by the game’s engine for all Toad appearances. Since the flood event is so brief, it was possible for the developers to overlook a wrong line in the coloring code.
