In Level 2-7 of Yoshi’s Island, touching a falling stone block while holding a Giant Egg will make the egg disappear and Yoshi will remain dizzy while holding nothing. This effect won’t go away by exiting aiming mode, you need to leave the area for it to wear off.

In Super Mario Bros. 2, pressing Up and Down simultaneously while on a vine will make your character shoot up extremely quickly. Sadly, this is impossible to perform with a regular NES controller unless you break or modify the D-pad.
