In Super Mario Sunshine, Yoshi will eat fruit autonomously if left in front of a fruit spawning point. This will prevent him from running out of juice, allowing Mario to leave Yoshi for any amount of time and to come back later without Yoshi disappearing.

Illustration from a guide for the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2, known internationally as Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, depicting the Fake Bowser enemy from this game and the original Super Mario Bros.
Fake Bowsers appear identical to Bowser in-game and are found in all castles except the last one; the only way to tell they are fake is to defeat them with fireballs, whereupon they turn into another enemy during their death animation. Here, this is illustrated through the Fake Bowser being a headless suit that a Blooper flies out of.

Three officially licensed 1985 Super Mario Bros. eraser sets from Japan, each featuring one eraser of Mario and one of an enemy from the game. Of note is that while Mario’s artwork is taken directly from the Japanese box art for the game, the other artwork seems to be made specifically for the eraser sets; note the unique hexagonal body shape of the Koopa Paratroopa.

Top: In Super Mario Odyssey, the Moon Kingdom and the Mushroom Kingdom contain small UFOs that fly away when Mario approaches, similar to the game’s many bird species. Here is a close-up of one of the UFOs.
Bottom: They are actually small versions of the Torkdrift boss from the Wooded Kingdom, having the same basic construction, but only one eyestalk instead of two. Just like Torkdrift steals flowers, the UFOs each have one small flower inside them.

In Super Mario Bros. 3, it is possible to skip fighting Hammer Bros. on the world map under certain circumstances. If the Hammer Bro is on a node on the map that would cause the map to scroll, the scrolling overrides the battle activation and Mario is able to pass through the Hammer Bro without fighting, as in the footage.
