In Super Mario Odyssey, if Mario is wearing the Bridal Gown, he will be wearing earrings if matching it with the Black Fedora (top) and no earrings if matching it with the Musician Hat (bottom), despite the hats being extremely similar. The reason is that the Black Fedora has a blue band, while the Musician Hat has a grey band; Mario wears blue earrings to match with the blue band in the first case, and no earrings in the second, as their color would not match.

In Super Mario Odyssey, the Odyssey displays irregular rendering behavior in Bowser’s Kingdom. Instead of being rendered while slightly outside the camera’s range, the Odyssey instead pops in when the camera is already in a position where it should be present (watch the top of the screen). While this type of behavior is common for older 3D games such as Super Mario 64, Super Mario Odyssey does not usually experience such errors.

Top: in Super Mario RPG, the Grate Guy’s Casino map is actually shared with the Seaside Town map. When Mario enters the casino area, the rest of the town is loaded, but not normally accessible.
Bottom: using cheats to jump from the casino area to the town area, we can see that it contains a copy of Geno rapidly pacing back and forth, and a Toad floating up and down. Talking to either of them produces a text box saying “Come on! Let’s get this show on the road.”
