In New Super Mario Bros., World 7-A contains the game’s only appearance of Squigglers, juvenile Wigglers (top). Squigglers are unique among the game’s enemies in that instead of being fully modeled or fully sprited, their heads are modeled while their body segments are sprites. Thus, the model for the Squiggler consists only of its head (bottom).

In Super Mario World, Yoshi is able to eat Bob-omb explosions. This is due to the fact that internally, the explosion is not a new object, but merely the Bob-omb assuming a new sprite with a different hitbox. The code that determines whether the Bob-omb can be eaten by Yoshi is unaffected, allowing the explosion to be eaten.

In Super Mario Odyssey, some of the kingdoms contain Power Moons obtainable by throwing Cappy at glowing birds. Usually, if the bird is scared off, the way to attempt this again is to walk away from the location and come back later once the bird respawns. However, there is a very quick way to respawn the bird. Simply enter first-person view mode, then look away and then back to the bird’s spawning point; the bird should have reappeared.

The music that plays in the Sunken Ship in Super Mario RPG has the creaking of the ship embedded into the music. The SNES sound format has 8 channels of samples that play simultaneously; one of the channels is dedicated to the creaking sounds. By modifying the code to only play the other 7 channels, we can remove the creaking from the music, resulting in this “clean” version.
