In Super Mario 64, a visual glitch can be encountered in the rear courtyard of Peach’s Castle. By positioning Mario inside the fountain and the camera facing the door to the castle, and then repeatedly jumping, a tiny white circle can be seen on the ground a few feet in front of the door. This is in fact a scaled-down copy of Mario’s “water splash” visual effect, created in that spot every time he jumps in or out of water. Such a spot where Mario’s water effects are duplicated exists in every stage, but the courtyard is the place it can be seen most easily.

Beta screenshot of Paper Mario from Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine. Of note is the fact that Mario seems to have 9 out of 10 HP in Chapter 6, two thirds into the game. In the finished version, the player is expected to have 20-30 HP at that point. This, together with the display that only seems to be able to accommodate a limited number of HP indicators, suggests that HP and damage were balanced completely differently until late in the game’s development.

The short operatic track that plays when using the Battery Thing Card in Paper Mario: Color Splash. Many interpretations of the German lyrics exist on the Internet, however, I believe that as a native speaker of German, I am at least somewhat qualified to give my own. I believe the lyrics are “Höret, ihr Narren, das aufgeladene Wort”, which translates to “Hear, you fools, the charged-up word”. “Charged-up” in this context refers to electrical charge, the source word being the same word one would use for a fully-charged battery.
