In Super Mario Bros. 3, letting a Super Mushroom follow Small Mario as he touches the level goal (possible in Level 2-5) will result in unintended behavior once the Super Mushroom touches Mario after the end-of-level scene. Among other irregularities, a sprite of Mario with his head missing will briefly appear on the left of the screen. (Footage recorded by me with a NES emulator.)
In Super Mario World, if a Baby Yoshi attempts to eat an enemy at the exact time it transforms into an adult Yoshi, the enemy will become glitched and will no longer be possible to interact with. Mario and Yoshi will pass through it, and Yoshi will not be able to eat it. (Footage recorded by me in a SNES emulator.)

In the Japanese version of Super Mario Bros. 3, it is possible to go out of bounds in the Warp Zone by using a Warp Whistle while on the boat in Water Land. Mario will be able to go left from his starting position and freely move around in the water, even make the map scroll at the right edge of the screen. However, he will not be able to go back on land, so unless a second Warp Whistle is used, Mario will be stuck and the game needs to be reset. (Footage recorded by me with a NES emulator.)

In Super Mario Land 2, pausing the game while Mario is going down a pipe and exiting the level by pressing Select results in the game entering a glitched state where Mario will go down through the floor of the next level he enters. Usually, this results in Mario falling down into empty space, where he is trapped until time runs out. (Footage recorded by me from a GB emulator.)
