In Super Mario Galaxy 2, there is a spot in Hightail Falls Galaxy where two Star Bits are placed at the same coordinates in space. This causes them to overlap and combine into what appears to be a two-colored Star Bit object.

Top: in Paper Mario: The Origami King, after destroying the purple streamer on top of the Sea Tower, the green streamer is revealed to have been behind it all along, which is pointed out by Olivia.
Bottom: this is actually foreshadowed very briefly beforehand. In the cutscene of Mario and Olivia arriving at the top of the tower, there is one shot where a small bit of the green streamer can be seen at the top of the screen behind a cloud for a few seconds before the camera angle changes.

Extremely rare 1996 Super Mario 64 Metal Mario coin spinner toy. A coin is inserted into the top of Metal Mario’s head, then his arm is pulled like a lever. This results in the coin shooting out from the front of the toy at a high speed.

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, all playable characters (Mario, Peach and Bowser) can use partner abilities; the game merely does not load partners when Peach or Bowser are active. If the game is modified to load Bowser into one of the rooms Mario can explore, we can see that riding Yoshi as Bowser exhibits some unintended behaviors.
If Bowser rides Yoshi through a room transition, Yoshi’s speed will greatly increase, being much faster than he can run while carrying Mario. The speed will return to normal in the next room, then increase again in the one after, etc.

In World 5-2 of Super Mario Bros., it is possible for Mario to be hit with a Hammer Bro’s hammers while climbing a vine. If this happens, after the level reloads, an invisible vine will be in front of Mario at the beginning of the level. It is identical in functionality to the short vines that grow out of the ground in bonus areas reached via vines, except it is invisible.

Top: the 2004 book “How to Draw Nintendo Heroes and Villains” calls Bowser “Kerog”. There is no precedent for this name being used anywhere else for Bowser, and until recently, the origin of the name was entirely unclear.
Bottom: however, it was discovered that one of the official renders of Bowser distributed by Nintendo had “kerog” as part of its name in the file directory of the resource CDs sent to journalists and publishers. Thus, the most likely explanation is that the person responsible for the drawing instructions did not contact Nintendo to find out Bowser’s actual name, but instead used the name from the file with the expectation that it was the correct name.
