Concept art for the birds in the Cap Kingdom, seen in the Art of Super Mario Odyssey book. The birds were originally intended to have the hat be a more prevalent part of their design; however, in the finished version (seen on the right), the design was changed to the regular birds first seen in Super Mario 3D Land, wearing small top hats.

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, there is a scene on the outside of the Excess Express in Chapter 6. Using glitches, it is possible to fall off the train and walk around on the ground next to it. This reveals that the motion of the train and the ground are an illusion: the train is stationary, but the textures on the ground and the decorative objects such as grass and cacti are moving left at a high speed to create the impression of movement.

A glitch in Luigi’s Mansion 3 can result in Luigi being permanently stuck in a loop of falling through the ground, appearing back in the room, and falling through the ground again on Floor 8 of the hotel if Luigi clips through an inactive TV by being pushed into it. It is possible for the game to autosave in this state, meaning that reloading will only cause Luigi to continue falling. Fortunately, the game also provides fixed saves at story-relevant points that can be used to escape the glitch.

Page from a Super Mario All-Stars manga where the versions of Mario from all four games in the collection see that the worlds of the games have begun to merge. Note the “USA” on the rightmost Mario’s shirt; this is due to the Japanese name for the game known internationally as Super Mario Bros. 2 being “Super Mario USA”.

Top: In Super Mario World, if Yoshi attempts to eat a Wiggler while running, Mario will take damage, and die if he is Small Mario. If Yoshi’s tongue is visible during the death animation, the graphics for Yoshi’s head will loop to the top of the screen for one frame as he falls off the bottom.
Bottom: the frame in question. Note half of Yoshi’s head being visible on the top of the screen, above the item storage box.

In the Japanese version of Super Mario Sunshine, when the player has collected 10 Shine Sprites, Yellow Toad will be absent from Delfino Plaza. He is actually still present, but misplaced to a plane below the playable area due to a glitch. Using exploits, it is possible to reach him and talk to him, but Mario will die during the conversation in the manner depicted.
