In Super Mario Sunshine, normally, whenever Mario sprays the ground with water, his reflection can be seen in the resulting puddle. However, the game only handles one reflection at a time; if there are other reflective surfaces nearby, the puddle will not be reflective. Here, I show the reflections at different distances away from the large mirrors in Gelato Beach.
Top: far away from the mirrors, the puddle is reflective.
Middle: closer to the mirrors, the reflection only appears when Mario is on the ground, and disappears when he is jumping.
Bottom: close to the mirrors, there is no reflection in the puddle.
In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, the ending scene with Rogueport being seen across the water can be accessed like a normal room by modifying a door’s exit code to lead to this room. Mario is able to walk on the water, but walking into Rogueport results in him falling through the floor into the empty space below.
Scene from a Chilean commercial for Super Mario 64. Note Mario’s irregular running animation. This is actually a result of the video being heavily edited; in the game, the camera does not remain a fixed distance away from Mario when he is running towards it, so this scene would be impossible to record normally. For this scene, the footage was shot of Mario running towards the castle, away from the screen. Then, Mario was edited out, the footage was reversed, and spliced frames of Mario running towards the screen were edited in, resulting in a convulsive movement.

In Super Mario World, the Yoshi Wings item normally transports Mario and Yoshi to a bonus room, where Yoshi is given wings to fly around and collect coins. Yoshi does not need to touch the item to go to the bonus room; he can instead also eat it. A glitch can be encountered if Yoshi eats the wings, but Mario jumps off Yoshi immediately afterwards. Mario will be launched upward without Yoshi (still in the sitting position) and arrive at the bonus stage alone.

Near the beginning of Luigi’s Mansion 3, Luigi is chased down a corridor by King Boo in a scripted scene where Luigi is supposed to escape by going down a laundry chute. If the player does not activate the chute, King Boo will stop and laugh, seemingly no longer attacking Luigi to give him a chance to escape. However, if the player waits too long, King Boo will stop laughing and hit Luigi with his tongue, revealing that it is possible to lose the game even in this introductory segment.

Artwork of Che Guevara as Mario from an article about online gaming in the Brazilian EGM magazine. Although the rest of the magazine is in Portuguese, the accompanying quote is in Spanish, due to Che Guevara having spoken Spanish himself. It translates to “You have to play online, but without ever losing the connection”.

In the original appearance of the DK Mountain track in Mario Kart: Double Dash, the sign near the beginning of the track read “Donkey Cannon” (top). However, when the track reappeared in Mario Kart Wii, it was changed to “DK Cannon” (bottom) without adjusting the length of the texture for the shorter text. To keep the sign the same length, the texture was stretched horizontally, so Donkey Kong appears distorted in the Mario Kart Wii version.
