Top: in the Sunshine Airport track of Mario Kart 8/Deluxe, several airplane designs are used. Most of them can be seen on stationary airplanes on the ground; however, one design is used only for the flying airplanes that can be seen passing in the suspended antigravity section.

Middle/bottom: For being impossible to see up close in-game, this airplane design is ironically the most detailed: it uses a different collage of official artwork on both sides. In addition, one detail is extremely hard to see in-game: the front of the plane has a decal of Mario’s mustache.

Immensely high-resolution renders of Toad from Super Mario 64 distributed to the press in 1996 (each image is over 3000 pixels tall; zoom in to view). These are of a much higher quality than the renders eventually released to the public via Nintendo’s official websites.

In some situations in Super Mario Galaxy 2, it is possible for Mario to become crushed when only part of his body is in the area affected by the moving object that is crushing him. While other Mario games generally opt to simply let Mario take damage in these cases, Super Mario Galaxy 2 has Mario freeze in mid-air in the position he was in before getting crushed, and die.

Top: in Super Mario 64, going through a door, then turning around and immediately performing a Slide Kick through the door will result in Mario going through the door without activating the door-opening animation. This will cause the camera to be stuck in the darkness outside the room.

Bottom: a side effect of this is that as long as the camera is stuck there, Mario will shake slightly whenever he moves towards it.

In Super Mario Galaxy, the Toads have a texture irregularity on the underside of their heads that gives them the appearance of a double chin. While in the original Wii version, this was more difficult to see, the increased resolution of the Super Mario 3D All-Stars version shown here allows this to be easily seen on console.

In Super Mario Sunshine, spraying this Dune Bud in Gelato Beach and then performing a Ground Pound directly after it activates will result in Mario being shot extremely high up into the air. The camera will move up and then down to follow him, resulting in a brief unique view of the entirety of Isle Delfino as it moves down.
