In the second issue of Nintendo Power, a fold-out calendar marks October 11th as Mario’s birthday. As there has never been an official statement on Mario’s birthday from Nintendo of Japan, and Nintendo Power was published by Nintendo of America, this is the closest to an official date for Mario’s birthday that is currently known.

In Paper Mario, there is unused functionality to use some healing items on partners in the game’s data. Normally, since partners in this game do not have HP, they cannot be healed; however, this function would have allowed Mario to use a Mushroom on an incapacitated partner to restore them, as shown with Goombario in the footage. This function also includes a unique animation of Mario throwing the item at the partner.

Top left: In the Art of Super Mario Odyssey book, there is a piece of concept art for lava platforms in the Luncheon Kingdom that depicts the lava as having distinct beige swirls in it.

Top right: the texture from the concept art is in fact used in-game - only at a scale that makes it nearly impossible to see except from very far away. The swirls are extremely large so that playing the game normally, they appear to be simply areas of slightly differently colored lava.

Bottom: the only way they can be seen in-game is from the Floating Sky Island, which allows the entire kingdom to be seen at once. From here, the giant swirls can be distinguished.
