North American print ad for Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. This ad is notable for its inventive avoidance of a spoiler. (Spoilers follow if you have not played the game.) The map behind Mario is the finished version of the Magical Map, which can only be seen in-game 7/8ths the way through the story. Before this, the map is missing key locations, with the final location being a surprise reveal of a building on the moon. The ad positions the map in such a way that the top left corner is out of frame, thus not revealing the secret.

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, it is possible to force Princess Peach to assume Paper Mode or Tube Mode by using a glitch to enter a chapter’s last cutscene with Mario in Paper Mode and then continuing to hold R until Peach is being controlled. Note that in Tube Mode, Peach can jump, which she cannot do normally. (Source)
By performing sequence breaking in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, it is possible to enter the Crystal Star room in the Great Tree in a glitchy state. Some of the effects include Mario’s sprites being layered improperly, walking in mid-air, and falling through the ground. (Source)
Attempting to cheat at the Happy Lucky Lottery in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door by setting the Gamecube’s internal clock backward will result in Lucky, the proprietor of the lottery, to become extremely angry and threaten Mario with a Game Over. (Source)
In the demo version of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, found on GameCube multi-game demo discs, the title screen features Mario and several of his party members waving at the screen. For one frame during the waving animation, Mario’s mouth appears on his cheek, shrunken in size.
In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, an Easter Egg in the X-Naut Fortress briefly transforms Mario and his party into sprites styled after Super Mario Bros. Every single possible color of Yoshi Kid has his own sprite. Here are all their walking animations. (Source)
