Getting a Star in all three slots in the Shy Guy’s Toy Box slot machine in Paper Mario results in the machine dispensing ten Mushrooms. However, the Mushrooms will vanish so quickly that it is almost impossible to collect all of them in time. (Footage recorded by me in a N64 emulator.)
In Luigi’s Mansion, Luigi remarks that he prefers the bottom bunk bed when examining a bunk bed in the Twins’ room (top image). However, in Paper Mario, Page 11 of Luigi’s diary, available only upon revisiting Mario’s house after defeating Bowser, contains a passage where Luigi wishes upon a star to be able to sleep in the top bunk bed (bottom image). The reason for this inconsistency is unknown.
In the demo version of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, found on GameCube multi-game demo discs, the title screen features Mario and several of his party members waving at the screen. For one frame during the waving animation, Mario’s mouth appears on his cheek, shrunken in size.
In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, an Easter Egg in the X-Naut Fortress briefly transforms Mario and his party into sprites styled after Super Mario Bros. Every single possible color of Yoshi Kid has his own sprite. Here are all their walking animations. (Source)
By performing a specific glitch allowing Mario to enter doors in Paper Mode in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, it is possible to enter the final boss battle cutscene with Paper Mode active. Mario will remain turned sideways for the remainder of the game as well as exhibit irregular behavior, such as walking away from Peach as she is lying on the floor after the battle.
