In Paper Mario, Mario’s model appears in cutscenes he should not be present in, hidden from the view of the camera. In the beginning of the game, Mario is watching the earthquake from outside, and orbits the castle in space.

A localization oddity in Paper Mario: Color Splash: the washing machine on Vortex Island in the North American version is top-loading (top picture) while it is changed to a front-loading one in the European version (bottom picture). In order to justify the vortex still pointing upwards, the front-loading washing machine needed to be propped up against something. So the localization team decided to redesign the laundry room into a cave in order to include a rock for the washing machine to lean onto.

This Yoshi in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is the only adult Yoshi character in the game outside the ones that briefly run across the screen during the Yoshi Kid’s Stampede attack, and is the only Yoshi besides the Yoshi Kid that talks. There is roughly a 1/16 chance of encountering him when taking the Excess Express after the completion of Chapter 6, resulting in only a small fraction of players seeing him.

In Paper Mario, it is possible to swim out of bounds by repeatedly pressing Down-C while walking against the edge of the dock in Shiver City. This glitch can be maintained throughout most of Chapter 7′s overworld.

In Paper Mario, Goombaria has been programmed as a party member, but is dummied out in the finished game. By using a GameShark code, it’s possible to have her follow Mario in the overworld, but she has no accessible field ability or moves in battle.
