The Sky Pop/Marine Pop theme from Super Mario Land is a remix of the second part of the Super Mario Bros. overworld theme. This makes it the only music in the soundtrack that references any previous game, as even the invincibility theme in Super Mario Land is different from the usual Super Star theme. This track plays one loop of the Sky Pop theme, then a segment of the Super Mario Bros. theme, and finally the relevant part of the Sky Pop theme again for comparison.

In Super Mario Land, a glitch can be exploited in levels 2-3 and 4-3 to make Mario invulnerable. If a block that is about to push Mario off-screen is destroyed at the last possible moment so that only 2 pixels of Mario’s vehicle are visible on the left side of the screen, enemies will not be able to harm Mario as long as he only moves up or down in this state. (Footage recorded by me in a GB emulator.)

In Super Mario Land, if you go into the second bonus room in Level 2-1 with a power-up, clear the breakable blocks under the pipe, and jump at the corner of the pipe from below while holding Down on the D-Pad, Mario’s animation for entering the pipe will activate while outside the pipe.
