In Super Mario RPG, there is a minor Easter egg that can be seen when riding Yoshi. If Yoshi is made to jump next to the small houses with berries on their roofs on Yo’ster Isle, he will stick out his tongue as though attempting to eat the berries. Note that this works only if he is facing the roof diagonally; he will not stick out his tongue if aligned with the horizontal or vertical axes.

The music that plays in the Sunken Ship in Super Mario RPG has the creaking of the ship embedded into the music. The SNES sound format has 8 channels of samples that play simultaneously; one of the channels is dedicated to the creaking sounds. By modifying the code to only play the other 7 channels, we can remove the creaking from the music, resulting in this “clean” version.

In the Japanese version of Super Mario RPG, if Mario opens the Treasure Box containing the Rare Scarf and the player then very quickly dismisses the text prompt that appears, Mario will slide down the hole next to the Treasure Box while still in the victory pose.
