It is possible to obtain the “Blast Away the Wall” star in Whomp’s Fortress in Super Mario 64 without using the cannon and destroying the wall, merely by jumping into the wall in a precise spot. However, the positioning and angling used for this glitch are very exact, so that it is much easier to get the star the intended way. (Source)

In Super Mario 64, hanging onto the edge of the vertical wooden plank in Whomp’s Fortress will cause the plank to wobble without affecting Mario’s position, resulting in him seemingly standing on air. (Source)

By flying and then performing a Ground Pound above one of the pillars in Shifting Sand Land in Super Mario 64, Mario will get stuck inside the stone as though it was sand. (Footage of the Virtual Console version recorded by me in a Wii emulator.)

An episode of the British television show Bad Influence contained extremely early beta footage of Super Mario 64. What makes their recording different from most available beta footage is that they were able to also record the sound. Here are two snippets of the show where the host talks over the game, but if you listen closely, you will be able to hear Mario’s beta voice, recorded before Charles Martinet joined the project. It is possible to make Mario stand on the death plane on the bottom of Whomp’s Fortress in Super Mario 64. If the player collects the 100th coin above a retracting platform (top left), it is possible to touch the star when there is no ground below it (top right). Mario will land on the death plane in mid-air and a save prompt will appear. As soon as the dialogue box disappears, Mario will die. (Footage of the VC version recorded by me in a Wii emulator.)

In Super Mario 64, positioning Mario next to a tree and using first-person view to look up and down results in the tree clipping through Mario (top image). The bottom image shows what is happening from the side. The tree is leaning forward and backward in response to the camera movement. (Footage of the Virtual Console version recorded by me in a Wii emulator.)

In Super Mario 64, it is possible to have a conversation with Lakitu while having no health remaining. For this, start a new save file and reduce Mario’s health to 2 before using a triple jump to get on top of Princess Peach’s castle. From the castle roof, drop down onto the bridge and Mario should lose the last of his health. However, Lakitu will still talk to him, preventing the death animation from playing. As soon as Lakitu stops talking, Mario will die. (Footage of the Virtual Console version recorded by me in a Wii emulator.)

In Super Mario 64, if Bowser is thrown far enough away during the last phase of the final battle, he will be unable to jump directly back to the arena from the place he fell, causing him to teleport after touching the side of the platform. (Footage recorded by me in a Virtual Console emulator.)

The prerelease build of Super Mario 64 showcased at the Shoshinkai 1995 expo contained a feature absent from the finished game: automatically regenerating health. In this footage, we can see that after taking fall damage and reducing his health to 4, Mario regenerates health at a rate of one unit every few seconds until it is 8 again. (Source)
