In Super Mario Bros. 3, using the Tanooki Suit’s ability to turn into a statue on the slope at the beginning of Level 5-2 will cause Mario to lose a life when he slides toward the left side of the screen.

In Super Mario Bros. 3, Hammer Mario can’t slide down slopes, since he retreats into his shell when you duck. However, a sliding sprite for Hammer Mario still exists in the code and can be seen in this bonus room in level 6-10. If Mario is already sliding when he touches the Hammer Suit, he will display Hammer Mario’s sliding animation.
In all versions of Super Mario Bros. 3, you can perform a kind of “double jump” with Kuribo’s Shoe by simply walking off a ledge and pressing the jump button in midair.
In Super Mario Bros. 3, if you grab onto a vine while Mario has Starman power, he will keep rotating for as long as you hold onto the vine even after it wears off.
