In Super Mario Galaxy, Bowser Jr. has two visible fangs (top). However, in Super Mario Galaxy 2, he only has one fang (bottom). Bowser Jr. has had one visible fang in all of his appearances since.
The images sent by Super Mario Galaxy to the Wii Message Board after completing certain milestones in the game.
In Super Mario Galaxy, Bowser’s battle theme, Nemesis King Koopa, is comprised of two separate tracks, the orchestra and the choir (which also includes a few extra instruments). In-game, the choir track always overlays the orchestra track. Here, you can hear it in isolation.
In Super Mario Galaxy, jumping off of reflective surfaces sometimes makes the reflection briefly follow Mario to the surface he lands on.
While playing as Luigi in Super Mario Galaxy, whenever he looks at an object to his left or right, one of his shoulders dislocates.
In Super Mario Galaxy, large bodies of water have a wave effect on their surface. However, this effect only covers a small, square area around Mario. In the top image, we can see the boundary between the wavy, refractive water and the rest of the water, which simply has a wave texture applied to it without actually moving. In the bottom image, by disabling the refraction and replacing it with a solid color, we can see how much area around Mario the effect covers.
Top: the shadow Mario casts in Super Mario Sunshine is made out of flattened polygons spread across the ground. Since it is always rendered at the same resolution Mario is, it enables the shadow to remain crisp at any zoom level.
Bottom: In Super Mario Galaxy, Mario’s shadow is calculated from Mario’s model for every frame in a fixed resolution. This makes it appear pixelated when it is close to the camera.
In Super Mario Galaxy, if Fire Mario stuns a Li’l Cinder and then hits the place where it fell into the lava with a fireball, an explosion will be created in midair. The explosion will sustain itself infinitely.
