Near the beginning of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, a Bandit runs into Mario, stealing half of his money (upper left). You can find him in his hideout and get the money back (upper right). However, if Mario has 0 coins on him at that point, Goombella will not mention any theft (lower left). In that scenario, the Bandit will note how Mario should have had money on him (lower right).

In Super Paper Mario, the speech bubbles display the same text, mirrored, on their back side (shown here by turning around the speech bubble object). Considering this behaviour is not present in the previous Paper Mario titles, this might have been intended to be used by the game’s engine for visual effects at some point during development.

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, during the events of Chapter 6 a paper is lying in front of Mario’s bed on the Excess Express. If Mario is standing in a precise spot between the paper and the bed, pressing A will bring up a cutscene and a sleep prompt at the same time. Pressing A again will send Mario to sleep, cutting off his partner’s dialogue.
