In Mario Party 5, there are barely readable labels under the game pieces during the character selection for the Card Party bonus game. However, looking very closely, you can see that the Wario and Waluigi pieces have been swapped.

In Chapter 7-2 of Super Paper Mario, some areas obscure the player’s vision with a hand-drawn overlay of a constantly shifting darkness. This is the animation used for this effect.
In the newer Super Mario series games starting with the Wii U, Princess Daisy’s nose has no texture. It is entirely modeled in polygons and becomes indistinguishable when lit from the front. By contrast, Princess Peach’s nose is still textured.

In the Edit Mode of Super Mario Maker, the music consists of 7 separate tracks that fade in and out independently of each other, creating a dynamic soundscape. However, it’s impossible to hear each track separately in the game, since multiple always play at the same time. Here are the percussion tracks for the Airship levels, in order of the styles: Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, and New Super Mario Bros. U.
The Mario Kart 8 track Mario Kart Stadium features a statue of Mario in his kart in the middle of the course. Below is the texture used for the statue’s face. The statue’s nose and mustache cover the drawn nose and mouth on the texture in-game.
