Top: the intro to Cloudy Court Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy 2. Note the clouds that slowly pull out of view around Mario as he flies towards the planet.
Bottom: this effect is achieved by having Mario fly through a long tube of clouds with a highly distorted texture. From the specific point of view in the center of the tube, the clouds appear normal due to perspective, and the length allows them to appear to move away slowly relative to Mario’s high movement speed.

Top: if Grand Prix mode or any Versus mode is entered in Mario Kart Wii directly after starting the game, the icons for any racer other than the player on the minimap in the bottom right of the screen will be smaller than that of the player.
Bottom: however, if at any point after starting the game, Time Trials mode is entered and then exited, the icons for the other players in the other modes will be big instead. This change lasts until the console is turned off.

In the fifth episode of Bianco Hills in Super Mario Sunshine, it is required to shoot a Poink at Petey Piranha, who is sleeping on a normally unreachable column in a river, to wake him up and begin the boss battle. However, it is possible to get Mario onto the platform by using the Rocket Nozzle and a dive from the raised platforms near the river in the manner depicted. While Petey Piranha does have collision in his sleeping state, it is impossible to wake him using anything other than a Poink, meaning there is no gameplay-relevant benefit to doing this.

In Super Mario Odyssey, during the two battles against Madame Broode, Mario must repeatedly capture her pet Chain Chomp named Chain Chompikins to deal damage to her. While capturing Chain Chompikins, an extra layer of rhythmic barks is added to the music; this is hard to hear both due to the abundance of sound effects in the battle and the fact that it is not possible to have Chain Chompikins captured for an extended time. Here is a full loop of the battle music with the barking.
