In Super Mario Odyssey, whenever Mario does a single jump, he always raises the arm that is further away from the camera (top). This is likely due to Nintendo-internal guidelines that state that Mario is not to be depicted with his arm covering his face while jumping. Compare a selection of official artwork where Mario raises the arm that is further away from the viewer (bottom).

Collectible 1993 Japanese Mario & Wario Menko cards (a game similar to Pogs) featuring Yoshi’s and Luigi’s names being transliterated as “Yossy” and “Ruigi”. While “Yossy” branding can be found in many Nintendo products prior to 2000, the “Ruigi” spelling is very rare.

Comic advertising Game Boy accessories, from the British Club Nintendo magazine. Note the blue L on Luigi’s cap. Giving Luigi’s emblem a nonstandard color appears to be common between Club Nintendo magazines, as the German one made it red instead.

In Super Mario Bros., beating World 8-4 unlocks a harder mode where, among other changes, Goombas are replaced with Buzzy Beetles. In that mode, there are many opportunities to jump onto a Buzzy Beetle when it is above a bottomless pit, as shown in the footage. Instead of falling, the Buzzy Beetle’s shell will be suspended in midair. If it is allowed to re-emerge, the Buzzy Beetle will continue walking on air and through walls.

In Super Mario Odyssey, there is an undocumented way of restoring Mario’s health. If Mario approaches the table in the middle of the Odyssey after sustaining damage, his health gauge will be refilled completely.

The data of Mario Party 6 contains a model test room consisting of three brown cars, three floating platforms and a semi-transparent wall of water in the middle of a grassy field (top). The Earth in visible in the skybox in the background. When the room is loaded, the dialogue “Gwahaha! This could actually get interesting…” appears and cannot be dismissed. Nothing in the room responds to the player’s input, with only the camera being controllable (bottom).
