Unused model found in the data of Super Mario Galaxy, named “PenguinGoodsHat” internally. It consists of a penguin lifting the top of a hat. Unfortunately, no animations or code are attached to the model, which means that its purpose remains unknown.

In Super Mario Bros. 2, whenever the player pauses the game, the first two channels of the background music (the ones using a square waveform) are muted, while the triangle and noise channel continue playing. These versions of the songs are not available on official soundtracks. Here is the pause screen version of the overworld theme.

The Nintendo Switch Online NES version of Super Mario Bros. 3 contains a visual glitch in the first fortress of World 3. If Mario runs while passing between the second and third door inside the fortress, the background will briefly shift and blur in a manner not possible on original NES hardware.

Top left: In the Puzzle Plank Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy 2, a glitch can be observed when Mario stands on the Mandibug in the section with the falling platforms as the platform he and the Mandibug are on is descending.
Top right: When the platform reaches the death barrier, it and the Mandibug will disappear, but Mario will land on an invisible platform instead.
Bottom left: Mario can survive on the invisible platform indefinitely as long as he does not move too far from the spot; it is also possible to enter first-person mode.
Bottom right: However, if Mario looks down while in first-person mode, the invisible platform will disappear and Mario will die.

In Super Mario World, pressing Left and Right simultaneously while on Lakitu’s cloud allows Mario to pass through solid objects. Unfortunately, due to the design of the D-Pad on the official SNES controller, doing so is not possible without either breaking the D-Pad or using a third-party controller that replaces the D-Pad with four separate buttons.
