A Super Mario variety blog.
Screenshots, photos, sprites, gifs, scans and more from all around the world of Super Mario Bros.

In Super Mario Sunshine, Mario’s shadow is made out of overlapping circles. Most of the time, this is not too conspicuously different from a true shadow; however, swimming above a slanted surface reveals the loose nature of the shadow as the circles begin to come apart. Here, Mario is swimming in the Pianta Village hot spring. (Footage recorded by me in a GC emulator.)
In the “Beware of Bouldergeist” mission of Ghostly Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy, performing a long jump from the outer layer of the planetoid with the bouncy core and circling the core a few times without touching it will cause Mario to fly off into space and lose a life. (Footage recorded by me in a Wii emulator.)
From the credits cutscene for Game & Watch Gallery 3. (Footage recorded by me in a GB emulator.)
In Super Mario 64, it is possible to collect the “Fall onto the Caged Island” star in Whomp’s Fortress by using the cannon, bypassing the intended way of using the owl to fly above the cage and drop down. However, this has been made deliberately difficult by the developers. The upper image shows the correct targeting to shoot to the star. However, as the lower image shows, if the target is even slightly off, Mario will activate the destruction of a wall and be thrown off the course without any chance to alter his trajectory, losing a life.
