In Super Mario Sunshine, Yoshi’s tongue reacts in an irregular manner to the wicker boxes on Pinna Park Beach. The closer Yoshi gets to one of the boxes, the shorter his tongue becomes. (Source)

A Canadian Kellogg’s cereal contest in 1994 showed what appears to be a mockup for a US cover for Mario & Wario, a game that was only released in Japan, which suggests that plans to release the game in the West were already underway. Notably, Wario has a completely different color scheme than usual.
Attempting to cheat at the Happy Lucky Lottery in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door by setting the Gamecube’s internal clock backward will result in Lucky, the proprietor of the lottery, to become extremely angry and threaten Mario with a Game Over. (Source)
