Top: in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, on the New Donk City Hall stage, the Odyssey can sometimes be seen in the background. Its sail shows that it has 21 Power Moons.

Middle: however, this is inconsistent with Super Mario Odyssey, where the smallest amount of Power Moons the Odyssey can have upon arriving in New Donk City for the first time is 55.

Bottom: during the game’s story, Cappy mentions that the Odyssey can reach New Donk City even with 45 Power Moons, but this is prevented by Bowser intercepting Mario in the Cloud Kingdom. Even if this is taken into account, however, 21 Power Moons is still too little to be accurate to the game.

The official reveal of Gooigi was in the trailer for the co-op mode in the Nintendo 3DS version of Luigi’s Mansion, published on September 13, 2018. However, Gooigi actually first appeared a month earlier, on August 8, 2018, in the reveal trailer for Simon and Richter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

The trailer features Luigi fighting enemies from the Castlevania series; for this, he uses the Poltergust G-00, a preview of it being introduced in Luigi’s Mansion 3 a year later. Inside the Poltergust G-00, a green glowing substance can be seen. This is Gooigi’s form that he takes when he is inactive; thus, Gooigi’s earliest appearance was in this trailer.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, whenever Luigi performs his grab move, his hat moves up slightly, revealing that his head is not modeled past his forehead. It is possible to zoom in on the gap and see the inside of Luigi’s hat through the empty space in his head.

Top: the Kongo Jungle map screen from Donkey Kong Country.
Middle: the recreation of the Kongo Jungle map screen from the World of Light mode in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Bottom: animation of the original superimposed over the recreation. The mountain in the middle of the recreation has been added to more organically connect the two halves of the screen and is not present in the original.
