In Yoshi’s Island, pressing Down and A on the same frame when entering a pipe will cause Yoshi to jump, but the next room still to load as though Yoshi had entered the pipe. Interestingly, this saves time over entering the pipe the regular way, as it skips the animation of Yoshi going down the pipe.
Here, two recordings of equal length are played side by side, each 150 frames long (300 in-game frames, or 5 seconds). On the ninth frame of each recording, Down is pressed. In the left one, A is also pressed on the same frame. As you can see, Yoshi emerges in the next room half a second faster using this method.

In 2013, a post on Supper Mario Broth showcased the original voice of Yoshi’s voice actor, Kazumi Totaka, restored by slowing down the voice samples used in Yoshi’s Story by 50%. However, that post did not include every single sample Totaka recorded for Yoshi, as not all of them have been extracted from the game at the time. Thanks to a new rip by sounds-resource.com user “Cooper B. Chance”, we can now hear all of Totaka’s samples in original quality.

Top: In Yoshi’s Island, Yoshi is able to perform a Flutter Jump with extended height after jumping on an enemy. However, if he touches the ground before Flutter Jumping, this ability will be forfeited. One exception exists: if Yoshi touches the ground for only a single frame, he will still be able to perform the extended Flutter Jump afterward. In this footage, Yoshi jumps on a Shy Guy in Level 1-2, then touches a pole for a single frame, and uses this to gain enough height to Flutter Jump over the wall.
Bottom: This allows Yoshi to skip the majority of the level by bypassing the pipe detour leading to the level’s other major area. Now Yoshi can simply run along the top of the wall instead.

During the battle against Hookbill the Koopa in level 4-8 of Yoshi’s Island, if Yoshi performs the final Ground Pound on Hookbill quickly enough after he falls over, a glitch will occur where Yoshi will fly up vertically at great speed after the Ground Pound. For the remainder of the scene, Yoshi will not come down.

In Mario Kart 8/Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Yoshis can be found on the sides of several tracks. Randomly, some of the Yoshis will hum a melody that is barely audible when the player drives past them. The melody is actually Totaka’s Song, a short tune present in nearly all soundtracks Kazumi Totaka, Yoshi’s voice actor and longtime Nintendo composer, worked on. The Yoshis hum the melody three times in slightly different ways before looping. This sound file was extracted from the game’s files and consists of two full loops.

In the Yoshi’s Crafted World demo, it is possible for Yoshi to quickly bounce off eggs shot directly downward to gain enough height to leave the screen, potentially bypassing obstacles in an unintended manner. Whether this exploit will remain in the finished game remains to be seen.
